These were produced for a VERY short time as the U.S. Army was transitioning to the MOLLE II platform AND to UCP/ACU pattern. As such these are VERY rare, especially in good shape. My M81 Assault Pack arrived on time and exactly as described. No holes, definitely used but not abused. Anything this old smells semi-funky ( including me) but it won’t knock you out of your chair. I bought a bottle of the cheapest vodka at the store, put it in a spray bottle and sprayed the outside and inside of the pack, it kills most of the mildew smell, It’s a great pack and One Thief Surplus is a great company to do business with.

If you can only own one pack, get this one! My favorite and most-used pack! I have 5 of these that I purchased many years ago, and they have held up very well. I got 4 of them as 3-day Go Bags for our family, back when our kids were in grade school. Liked it so much, I picked up a 5th as my standard Get-Home bag for the car. They are just the right size, holds quite a lot, yet it does not have a big and bulky profile. It is similar in size to a typical high school or college laptop backpack (so they don't scream "MILITARY STUFF" from a distance), but much more rugged than anything else out there, and the zippers are the best I have ever encountered on any military gear. We have found that the MOLLE II M16A2 30 Round Double Magazine Pouch (NSN 8465-01-465-2092) is PERFECT for strapping to the side MOLLE of the smaller pouch, for holding a standard 6 oz. can of OFF Bug Spray (so it doesn't get on anything else, and you don't have to dig to get to it.) The internal stiffener is white Polyethelene padded with a 1/4" layer of neoprene, very light, but quite useful for keeping things from poking you in the back. The stiffener can also double as a lap desk or cutting board, and the pocket it slides into can hold many different sizes of iPads or lightweight laptops. A Waist Pack can be strapped to the bottom and will hold a Poncho Liner if you stuff it right. And a Poncho, folded lengthwise into thirds and rolled, will strap in nicely draped across the top for quick access.

I've been looking for this pack for many years. I pretty much gave up on ever finding the assault pack in M81 Camo. So glad I was able to get this "Bucket List /Grail " item. The pack I received is in excellent condition. Better than I had expected. Another great find from O.T. Surplus. Thanks guys! 👍

I do a lot of hiking and camping and my old ACU assault pack I kept from the army was absolutely worn out. This was a fantastic price on a really great pack and M81 is a much sexier pattern anyway. Highly recommended.
