Great piece of winter gear. I’ve wanted to try one of these for quite some time but never got around to it. Performance wise, it is no different than the US surplus wool beanie, but, as mentioned in the description, the brim helps keep the sun & precipitation out of your eyes/face. Another lesser known pro is that if you have a jacket with an oversized hood, especially a military surplus hood cut for a helmet, the brim provides a little ledge for the hood to rest upon keeping it from blocking your vision. It (the hood) can be cinched down on top of the brim as well ( as opposed to right above your eyes)

My pack arrived in pristine condition, hard to tell if it was ever issued. An entire brand new mouthpiece kit comes with it. Good luck finding this quality on the civilian market for this price.

If you're worried about the size, it fits well enough for my currEnt weight ( fat) lol and very well if you're just an XL. Very warm too. Great winter mid layer or early fall top layer.

This is as good as my Marmot and Mountain Hardwear bags, both of which cost 300 plus. Get em while they got em.

Bought this along with several other things and the pack was like new. The only way to tell it was issued was some marker underneath a storm flap. My new winter hiking pack.
