the IFAK II is the current U.S. Army-issued Improved First Aid Kit, featuring significant enhancements over its predecessor. Notably, it includes two Combat Application Tourniquets (CATs), each housed in separate, MOLLE-compatible pouches for rapid access. This design allows soldiers to mount the tourniquets on various parts of their gear, such as the kit itself or uniform pockets, facilitating immediate response to extremity hemorrhages

The IFAK II's modular pouch system comprises an outer carrier and an inner removable tray, both designed for ambidextrous access. The inner tray is tethered to the outer pouch, ensuring it remains attached during high-movement scenarios. This configuration enables soldiers to access life-saving supplies swiftly with either hand

Beyond the dual tourniquets, the IFAK II includes updated components such as a, eye shield, vented chest seal, compressed gauze, elastic bandage, gloves, permanent marker, and a tactical combat casualty care card. These additions enhance the soldier's capability to manage airway obstructions, eye injuries, and chest wounds effectively.
