A Scarce Piece of Early GWOT Tactical Gear

Tactical Tailor has deep roots in the military community and became particularly well known for producing rugged, purpose-built equipment during the transition from traditional ALICE and LBV equipment into modular fighting-load systems.

During the late 1990s and early years of the Global War on Terror, commercially produced Tactical Tailor equipment became popular among soldiers who wanted equipment that improved upon or supplemented standard-issue gear. This period produced some of the company's most desirable equipment among today's military-gear collectors.

The M81 Woodland configuration makes this set especially interesting. Woodland modular equipment represents a relatively narrow transitional period before Coyote Brown, UCP and eventually OCP/Multicam equipment became dominant.

Why This Set Is So Difficult to Find

Individual pieces of early Tactical Tailor Woodland gear occasionally surface. Complete, matching setups are considerably harder to assemble.

Over the last two decades, most surviving equipment has been used, modified, separated or mixed with components from other manufacturers. Magazine pouches might survive without their original carrier. Bibs get separated. Utility and specialty pouches disappear into other kits.

Finding the individual pieces is one challenge.

Finding them together is another.

Finding a comprehensive genuine Tactical Tailor M81 setup in new condition more than two decades later is exceptional.

This set includes the carrier and removable bib along with a substantial assortment of magazine, grenade, radio and general-purpose pouches, creating an unusually complete example of Tactical Tailor's early modular fighting equipment.
