First 'ACU' is 'Army Combat Uniform' and refers to the type of uniform. The camouflage pattern is technically referred to as 'UCP' which is 'Universal Camouflage Pattern'. UCP was loathed by every military branch that it was issued to (USMC 'opted out' and designed their own). Now phased out the mil-surp market is flooded with it which is good for mil-surp gear consumers due to it's unpopularity (camo pattern) and the swollen stock quantity. It keeps the prices down compared to same gear in more popular patterns. UCP works rather well in the desert SW (rocky washes and heavy shades of gray flora) and many guys just dye or spray paint gear for their terrain colors. The pouches I received were in very good shape but as usual most vendors do not mention the 'sticky residue' on the inside of surplus packs and pouches. It's caused by the 'waterproof coating' breaking down due to hot and humid conditions and age. The two packs I received had just a slight sticky feel but does not affect the function of these pouches. They'll be going on the sides of my MOLLE II ruck.
